Tupelo still to fight North Lee project

A favorite fishing spot for numerous families and a home for protected
wildlife is being drained dry and local residents are not too happy with
the plan.

Long Creek Reservoir, located in the southeast part of Lauderdale
County, is owned by the city of Meridian. On Monday, the city issued a
press release which states that the Mississippi Department of Environmental
Quality has deemed that the lake is not safe because of a leak in the dam.

Permits granted for New Hope sewer expansion

and Water on several county roads that will allow the utility company to
install a pressure sewer main connecting the New Hope School District to
the city's sewer system.

Jackson County Board of Supervisors this morning to oppose a proposed zone

change they fear might lead to a landfill expansion or an undesirable

industrial business in their area.
