Gather up hazardous waste items from around your home and bring them for
safe recycling and disposal at the first Fall Household Hazardous Waste Day
in Ridgeland. This event is made possible by a $25,000 grant from the
Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. It is open to residents
of Ridgeland and Madison County. Bring old tires, batteries, lawn
chemicals, old paint cans, and sensitive documents for shredding.
Electronics will not be accepted at this event. Come to Holmes Community
College from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12. where you can drive
through the drop-off zone and volunteers will help unload your items.

Solid-waste grants go to Hancock County

solid-waste assistance grant of $50,000, which the county will use for a
household hazardous waste collection event Oct. 10 at the Coast Electric
Power Association offices in Kiln.

Management of Jackson, as part of a nationwide effort to encourage
