City’s Water Plant Named Best in Mississippi

Vicksburg has the best water treatment plant in Mississippi, according to the American Water Works Association.
North Ward Alderman Michael Mayfield announced the designation at Thursday’s meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, adding the city received an award for the accomplishment during a conference of the Alabama/Mississippi Section of the AWWA in Mobile, Ala.

The property owner denies the allegations and said he is a land developer with permits to do work on his land.

Communities scramble to help after Mississippi immigration raids

A day after hundreds of people were detained at various food processing plants in central Mississippi, local organizations, churches and community members are working to develop relief plans for those affected, but concrete plans are not yet set.
