BP's Robert Dudley on the Gulf Oil Spill's Legal Aftermath
Bloomberg
By Paul M. Barrett on August 08, 2013
After the April 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, BP (BP) said it wanted to
clean up the mess, pay what it owed, and get on with business. Three years
later, you're at war with plaintiffs' lawyers. What happened?
It was a terrible accident. And from that time on, we said we would want to
step up and make good. We are still committed to make sure that legitimate
claimants and people who were true victims of the spill are paid.

Tulane study shows no post-oil spill crab decrease
Fox 8
New Orleans, La. - When researchers from Tulane and the University of
Louisiana-Lafayette began a study of blue crabs in the Gulf of Mexico after
the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, they expected a big kill-off. However,
their investigations have not indicated any obvious or dramatic mortality
rates. The ongoing study is funded by the BP/Gulf of Mexico Research
Initiative.

Cut Emissions? Congress Itself Keeps Burning a Dirtier Fuel
NY Times
By ERIN BANCO
WASHINGTON — As part of the climate change agenda he unveiled this year,
President Obama made a commitment to significantly reduce the federal
government's dependence on fossil fuels. The government, he said in a
speech in June at Georgetown University, "must lead by example."
But just two miles from the White House stands the Capitol Power Plant, the
largest single source of carbon emissions in the nation's capital and a
concrete example of the government's inability to green its own turf.
