OCEAN SPRINGS, MS - There are growing concerns in Ocean Springs about the city's drainage system and flooding problems. This is in the wake of a deluge last week that dumped six inches of rain on the city in just a few hours. The area impacted the most is just a block from city hall.

BP oil disaster fines to pay for 300 new Gulf conservation jobs

Three hundred new conservations jobs will open up in the next few years in states along the Gulf of Mexico, funded by about $7 million in BP Deepwater Horizon oil disaster penalties. Employment will ramp up gradually, with 10 new jobs in each state next year, 20 more in 2019 and another 30 the following year, for a total of 60 new jobs in each of the five states by 2020, conservation official Jeff DeQuattro said Wednesday (Aug. 10).

Feds to expand review of emissions standards for cars

The Trump administration is expanding its review of greenhouse gas emissions standards for cars.
In a Federal Register notice Thursday, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said it would consider whether to loosen the emissions standards for cars beginning in model year 2021 rather than model year 2022.
