A small Louisiana Indian tribe says money offered to settle its lawsuit
against BP PLC and others for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is not enough to
clean up and monitor tribal lands. So the 680-member Pointe-au-Chien
(point-oh-shyenh) tribe is continuing with its lawsuit against BP,
Transocean Ltd. and Halliburton Energy Services.

New regs for Tuesday: Highways, pipelines, polar bears

Pipelines: The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is
proposing new safety requirements for pipelines carrying hazardous liquids
in response to recent spills.




The pipeline safety requirements will "increase the detection and
remediation of unsafe conditions," the agency noted.




"In recent years, there have been significant hazardous liquid pipeline
accidents, most notably the 2010 crude oil spill near Marshall, Michigan,
during which almost one million gallons of crude oil were spilled into the
Kalamazoo River,'' the agency wrote.




The public has until Jan. 8, 2016 to comment.
