LONDON (Reuters) - Talks between BP (BP.L:Quote, Profile, Research, Stock
Buzz) and the U.S. government over a settlement for the 2010 oil spill have
stalled because the U.S. is insisting that the British oil giant pay at
least $18 billion, British newspaper the Sunday Times reported.

Crews rush to clear beach debris before Cruisers arrive

One of the biggest tourism events in South Mississippi will be revving up
in about a week, and pieces of debris from Hurricane Isaac still litter
parts of the beach in Harrison County. Sand beach and road department crews
have been working feverishly to remove the mess before Cruisin' the Coast
kicks off October 7.

Natchez applies for EPA grant

NATCHEZ, MISS. — The city of Natchez is applying for $400,000 grant it was

previously denied from the Environmental Protection Agency that will fund a

study to identify and possibly clean up any environmental contamination at

industrial sites.

Volunteers from Georgia clean South Mississippi waterways

A group of volunteers from Georgia took off work, loaded up their kayaks
and launched in South Mississippi to help clean the waterways. They paddled
down the bayou pulling trash from trees and headed into the marshes
gathering bags of garbage.

Estuary in East Jackson County is a wildlife destination

Located in the bayous near the state line with Alabama, the Grand Bay
National Estuarine Research Reserve is worthy of a day trip to East Jackson
County. On Saturday, boat and kayak tours of the upper portion of Bayou
Heron were offered. Despite the wet weather, people took the tours, taking
in the wildlife and habitat of the 18,000-acre estuary, Mississippi's
easternmost tidal stream.

Gas-drilling boom in U.S. rattles energy producer Russia

The drilling process called hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is shaking

up world energy markets from Washington to Moscow to Beijing. Some predict
