SAFETY VIOLATIONS LEAD TO FINES FOR NISSAN CANTON

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration recently cited Nissan in Canton, for two violations. Travis Parks is a production technician at the plant and member of a group seeking to unionize workers.

MDEQ lifts one water contact advisory, but five others still remain
SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality lifted the water contact advisory Wednesday for Shearwater Beach from Weeks Bayou eastward to Ashley. That section of the Mississippi Sound is safe for swimming again.

Preliminary flood insurance rate maps for Columbia area viewed at open house

Green group highlights 10 chemicals for EPA regulation

A green advocacy group is highlighting ten toxic chemicals it wants the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate under new broad powers.

Topping the Environmental Working Group’s list is asbestos, a cancer-causing substance still found in automobile brake pads and clutches, vinyl tiles and roofing materials.
